Insurance, Fees, & Sliding Scale
If you are insured under Aetna or Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and are only seeking individual counseling, I may be able to see you through Alma or Headway - please contact me for more info.
In an effort to recognize and address the inequity in most New Yorkers’ access to quality mental health care services, I offer sliding scale rates on an honor system for sessions paid out-of-pocket. Please see below for more info on how to determine your rate.
Suggested Directions:
You’ll see that under each of my offerings, I provide four rate categories: Average, Solidarity, Reduced, and Low-Cost. Rates are sliding scale based on availability and your financial capacity. Use the worksheet below to determine your financial capacity.
The first step is to take a look at the green bottle image below and determine where you fall in the 3 tiers.
Next, use the tier-rates key (further below) to determine which rates apply to you: Average, Solidarity, Reduced or Low-Cost.
Note that many health insurance companies have out-of-network benefits. As an out-of-network provider, I may be able to provide you with invoices so that you can get reimbursed for your sessions by your health insurance company. This is one of the ways receiving counseling services can be made affordable and for some, result in zero out-of-pocket cost. To find out if your insurance provides out-of-network coverage for the services I provide, here are some questions to consider asking your health insurance company. If you do have out-of-network coverage, please consider rates at tiers 2 or 3. This helps sustain my practice and ensures greater access for clients who are uninsured or underinsured.
Once you’ve figured out which tier you fall under and whether you have out of network benefits, reach out to me with a rate in mind and we can discuss availability. I keep a certain number of slots available for each rate range until they are filled. I do this so that I can provide everyone, regardless of their financial capacity, the same level of care. In the event that I don’t have availability that matches your needs, I am committed to connecting you with other resources that may fit your needs. I am always open to discussion.

Solidarity - Are you experiencing some financial abundance at the moment? When you pay a solidarity rate you are helping subsidize the cost of other people’s sessions. This results in my being able to provide an even higher quality of care to everyone, including you! You also may help me fund my dream to start a holistic healing cooperative tailored to BIPOC.
