Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. At this time, most sessions are provided to New York State residents via telehealth over a HIPPA-compliant platform.

If you would prefer to meet in person, please let me know and we can discuss options.

  • If you are interested in individual counseling & are insured by Aetna or Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, I may be able to see you through Alma or Headway. Please reach out for more info. I am also an out-of-network provider. This means:

    1. You can opt to pay out of pocket and keep your health information completely private.

    2. You may be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for sessions.

    3. You can obtain superbills from me that may allow you to be reimbursed by your health insurance company for a portion or the entirety of the cost of your session. To determine if your out-of-network coverage will cover any part of the cost of sessions, here are some questions to ask your insurance company.

  • I am a firm believer in the need for universal healthcare and advocate for this at the policy level, locally and federally. Providing and receiving care work, especially mental health care work, under unbridled capitalism unfortunately means navigating a maze of bureaucracy, predatory data collection, and a variety of unregulated private insurance policies. Until we have policies and systems that work for us, these are some of the benefits of paying out of pocket for these services instead of through health insurance:

    1. Privacy. Health insurance companies require personal health information from providers including but not limited to diagnoses, attendance reports, and session notes By opting to work with an out of network provider, what you share is up to you and your information is kept private.

    2. No limit to sessions. Health insurance companies can put a limit to the number of sessions you have access to. By working with an out of network provider, you get. to choose how many sessions you’d like to have according to what suits you best.

    3. Working with the provider of your choice. Health insurance companies often dictate who you can and can’t work with. When you work with an out of network provider you exercise control over who you work with.

I’m open to discussing your specific needs and exploring options that best suit you.
